Tulle Witch

Happy Halloween!! It's that time of year again when pumpkins are popping up all over the place, dark, vampy lips are a must, and fabulous outfit ideas and easy DIY costumes quickly take over your mind. It's dress up time again!

My costume this year is a super easy, last-minute witch's costume that can be created by using simple pieces for your current closet. I pulled this over-the-top, tulle skirt, a black knit crop top, my web-esque vintage necklace, and a pair of sparkly pumps to create a Sarah Jessica Parker (SATC meets Hocus Pocus) inspired look for the season.

This tulle skirt is ahhhmaazzzing! Let me just talk about the company it came from for a minute. This beautiful, flamboyant beauty originated from a custom order website called eShakti. eShakti is a company that allows you to not only shop dozens of amazing styles from their online store, but to custom build each one! When you're going through the checkout process, you simply select the fit you'd like and submit your exact measurements, and the end result is a perfectly prepped item that is just right for you. For my tulle midi-skirt, I just entered the length that I would like it to hit on my leg (right below the knee, please and thank you), along with the measurements for my waist and my hips, and voila! I have my very own, custom made Bradshaw skirt. And let me tell you, this baby fit like a dream. I've never really thought much about ordering customized clothing in the past, but it is definitely something I will look forward to doing in the future!

Ready for Fall in a Heat Wave

You know how sometimes you just have those days? You know... one of those days where the day consists of only small things going wrong that end up creating an unnecessary (and often stressful) problem. Well, I kind of feel like I've been having one of those months. Or two months. And I've found that when times get tough and life smacks you in the face, sometimes it's best to just bite your tongue, throw on a cute, flirty dress, and smack it right back.

Although I've been dreaming of fall for quite some time now, it doesn't seem like it will be happening anytime soon for us in SoCal. This past week was brutal with humid heat in the high 90s/low 100s the entire week (my family in ATX & FL are shaking their heads at my weakness I'm sure), forcing me to temporarily let go of the cardigans and boots that I've been trying so hard to pull out of my closet over the last month. The fun interesting thing about an unexpected heat wave, however, is that it forces some creativity into your ready-for-fall attire. While I'm not quite able to wear the layers that I'm hoping for, I can still add a dash of fall into my look with textures like suede and heels that offer a little more coverage, without going full bootie.

Looking back on it, I realize that I don't actually mind the heat. When it's not then norm, it takes a little bit to get used to it. But I know it's not the worst. As much as I like to bitch about it, I'm aware of the fact that I've waited my whole life to experience weather this sticky and uncomfortable at the end of September, and I'm not going to start taking that for granted now that I'm a year into it. The nice thing is that in a few days, I'll be back in my hometown with colorful leaves around me and the ability to layer should I choose to do so! We'll be visiting home to reunite with family and friends for 5 days, and I am SO looking forward to having a taste of the little things that used to make up my life in Ohio. I can't wait to be getting my hair done at my favorite salon by my favorite stylist/good friend, sharing a delicious meal with my entire group of best friends, sipping a good mixed drink made just the way I like it, and following it by a really good latte the next morning with my bestie. It's going to be like a breath of fresh air. Now that is worth a few days of sweaty outfits if you ask me.

More soon!

Who Runs the World?

I love this romper for the end of summertime. Even though it doesn't seem that the weather is cooling off anytime soon, I have found myself in full fall mode already. It's ironic, because when I lived in Ohio I never wanted summer to end. Now that I know that winter isn't following autumn, I can't wait for it! I'm so excited to wear cardigans, boots, scarves, you name it. Plus, if I'm wearing sweaters then that means my babies will be too. (And they lovvvee their sweaters.) I just love to bundle up for the fall fashion season, especially when I don't have freezing weather coming along with it!

Since the weather is still in the high 80's/low 90's in SoCal, I'm forced to integrate autumn pieces one at a time into my daily outfits. Long cardigans are definitely one of my favorite ways to accessorize a bit of fall into my style. Since they're flowy and open, it allows me to still feel covered up without feeling overly warm. Plus, if you get over heated just tie it around your waist and pretend like you're Beyonce for the day. (Wouldn't you be doing that anyways?)

These booties have been my obsession lately. I was on the hunt for a pair of Timberland looking flat booties when I stumbled upon these at TJ Maxx. They're super comfy, and the heel gives a little bit of extra oomph to the duo. Plus, I love the look of them! I may need to still grab a flat pair, as well.

Tulled & Studded

Nothing makes me feel super girly like a flowing, tulle skirt and a good pair of stilettos. I've had my eye on a pair of these for a while after seeing that literally everybody has a pair, so when I saw that Tobi was having a sale recently I finally decided to snatch some up. I love the nude and red color combo, and pairing these with my tulle skirt made me feel utterly Bradshaw.

P.S. Please excuse my leopard print bra that seems to sneak its way through all of my shirts. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. And it's part of my Carrie look, right? :)

Ready For Fall

Remember when I said that I've been obsessed with dresses this summer? Well the trend continues with this one. I purchased this textured tank dress a couple of years ago thinking it would work for one of our engagement activities. While it obviously wasn't appropriate for something of that nature, it works great underneath layers for a casual outfit during the work week. I paired it with a pinstriped button-up from H&M, a plaid scarf, and last year's favorite booties since I'm already in the fall mindset.

If you know me, you know that while I love a good shopping trip and do have quite the addiction to shoes and jewelry, I also am a very cheap person when it comes to my clothing and tend to remix a lot of previous wardrobe favorites in order to get new looks. I'm not a person that will be like, "Oh, I bought that dress last year so it probably won't fit in with my style this year." I'm that girl that thinks, "I bought this skirt my junior year of high school, but I could totally wear it now with those booties I just got from forgetting to cancel my JustFab subscription." (Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me?) This outfit is a great example of that since all of the items featured are at least a year old, minus the fab scarf that I just got for $6 at Forever 21. So, when you're looking for a new outfit or are in the mood to spice up your style but aren't sure what to buy in order to do so, take a look back through some of your old closet favorites and remind yourself why you loved them so much in the past. Sometimes good things come in old packages. :)

Happy weekend!

Denim & Prints

For some reason this summer I have been loving dresses even more than usual. I'm not sure if it's the easiness of them or the girly style, but my closet is becoming more and more full of dresses and I find myself wearing them non-stop during the work week. I picked this one up recently from the always promising sale rack of Target (I do realize how cheapo that sounds), and although I was instantly drawn to the differentiating black and white prints, the $12.49 price tag didn't disappoint either. You gotta love Target.
