Pastel Maxi

With spring finally upon us (the fashion season that is), I have found myself increasingly drawn to pastels and ocean-inspired hues, and this flowy, mint maxi from Our World Boutique hits the spot when it comes to expanding my spring wardrobe. It's light and airy, yet polished enough to be dressed up, down or hippie like. Plus, the color is the absolute perfect shade of vibrant mint. I love pieces like this that work for a multitude of occasions. Here's to spring!

Lavender & Yellow

I'm not typically a lavender type of girl, but something about this Carry A Torch dress just drew me to it. The delicate lace detail, the soft lilac color, and the perfect just-the-right-amount-of-poof tulle skirt create an amazing balance of unique and feminine that just make a girl feel like a little (fabulous) purple ballerina. I absolutely love this dress and as soon as I put it on I felt like a fresh, new person - and totally prepared for Spring!

Feminine pieces like this dress are the perfect thing to roughen up a bit with a studded, leather jacket and some tough booties (that manage to look even tougher after playing photoshoot in the sand). I thought I'd complete the look by throwing a splash of color in there with this lovely little yellow bag.

I would never expect a lilac and yellow combination for myself, but this outfit made me feel amazing. Something about the bouncy bottom and flattering cut just felt and looked amazing for a sunny day in SoCal. I can't wait to wear this dress all spring and summer long and am already power-walking my mind with ideas for how to rock it. Aside from the beautiful color and feminine details, the most amazing part of this piece is actually that it's two layers put together - meaning I can separate those layers to mix them up with all different kinds of outfits and get so many looks out of this one amazing piece! I fully plan on using the skirted slip under some spring layers so stay tuned for many more posts featuring this gorgeous dress. It's seriously amazing. <3

Happy Hump Day!

Valentine's Day Look #3: Business Casual

If you're heading out to celebrate the holiday straight from a long day of work, today's look is great for you. Dress up your daily outfit with a hint of pastel pink, some wedges, and a bright bag for an outfit that will work for dinner and drinks and the office.

By the way, if you're looking for a piece that will be festive without too overwhelming, try your classic Victoria's Secret Pink t-shirt. Just throw a button-up underneath and a blazer on top. With the display of "love" and "pink," it's perfect for the holiday, and no one can see the bright neon orange jersey number on the back of the shirt. ;)

Cali says, "Happy Valentine's Day!!" (Doesn't she look so happy? Obviously only one of us was feeling the love.)

Enjoy your day of love everyone. :)

Valentine's Day Look #2: Fuschia & Black

Today's post is another fun option for the upcoming day of love. If you're not into a super girly look, try something a little bit more dressed up and fitted. I love to add a good pop of color with some bright bottoms like these fuschia skinnies. Paired with high, black pumps and a classic button-up, you'll be all set for an evening of dinner & drinks.

A blouse like this is perfect for date night because it's classic and crisp, but tiny gold polka dots add a little bit of flair for a special occasion. Button it all the way up and add a statement necklace and a sparkly clutch for a sharp but feminine evening look.

Fringe Booties

Since the majority of our belongings had been in storage for several months, when we moved into our apartment I was obviously super excited to get back the remaining pieces of my wardrobe that (felt like) I had gone forever without. A couple of the things that I didn't have with me at the hotel we were staying at included this cargo jacket and these fabulous fringe booties.

I picked this jacket up at American Eagle a few years ago, and up until recently it actually was much longer and was often paired with tunics. Damn Extended Stay dryer got me again with that one. But nonetheless, even the shorter version is great to just throw on over a simple outfit and make it a little tougher. I absolutely love thin jackets for spring and have noticed that they are exceptionally nice to have living in a warmer climate. When our weather dips down to a chilly 63 degrees and our local news puts out its "winter weather advisory" telling me, "You're gonna want to grab a jacket today, maybe even a scarf. It's gonna be a cold one!" I know that a jacket like this will be just fine. And maybe that scarf added in for a little accessorizing.

These booties are from Forever 21 (also a few years ago) and are an obvious copy for Alexander Wang's Alexis Fringe Booties. Funny story: I saw these amazing fringe booties in a magazine several years ago and was dying over them. They're not very practical, but this is the type of shoe that just looks good sitting on your shelf and ends up making a girl feel good that she owns them. So, I immediately hopped on Forever 21's website and searched all over for them. Gone. Completely sold out. Like, there were Yahoo! forums and articles written about these shoes and how they were a close replica and sold out so fast. So, I immediately then hopped on eBay in search of these shoes. Clearly, I was a 19 year old girl with not much else to do. I found them on eBay, noticed they were now marked up like an additional 50% since they were so hard to find, weaseled a little money out of my parents (Dad, I know you probably don't remember this. I was good.), and purchased them. Well, they've been on my shoe shelf ever since and have never been worn out in public. Unless you count the time I wore them for these photos on our patio. Isn't that how it goes, though? But that's okay. I own these fringe booties that we can just go ahead and consider Alexander Wang. And I love having them back in  my possession and looking at them every day, imagining where I would wear them if they weren't so clunky and awful.

Valentine's Day Look #1: Girly & Casual

It's February and that means that it's officially time to start thinking of your Valentine's Day outfit. ;) Today's post is the first in a three part series that will hopefully give you some inspiration for any upcoming V-Day plans you may have.

This year we're not planning anything too eventful for the big day. Since my hubby's birthday is just a few days before (and I have an awesome gift/day planned for him!) we'll most likely spend the holiday simply going out to dinner and then having a low-key night at home with our pups. If you're like me, and like to look cute on Valentine's Day while still being comfy, this is a great option for you. Although a dress and tights combo often looks a bit dressed up, it's actually super comfy and feels extra cuddly when wrapped in an oversized sweater. The perfect look for a nice and cozy evening at home. <3
